Seven Moments in Time - Screenplay
‘Seven Moments in Time’ story is about bridging the gap between generations, something we as a society don’t do very well. Young people and elderly people remain in separate worlds with no bridge between them. It’s an awful shame that we don’t make a greater effort to bridge the gap between the two generations as there is so much each can learn, enjoy and experience from sharing a moment, or two, together.
The story centres on an elderly man that sits on a public park bench once a week to eat his sandwiches and drink tea from his flask. This becomes an issue when a teenager sits on the elderly man’s bench.
Two generations often perceived as worlds apart is characterised by the two people sitting on separate benches. The physical divide along with a cultural divide gives the impression that these two
people will never get on, will never understand each other, and will never find a connection. This is very evident when the young man performs his new Rap Song for the Elderly Man.
Each moment in time reveals the differences between the two generations, until a sandwich, some tea and a joke closes the gap considerably allowing the two worlds come together. A bond is formed between the two unlikely people over seven moments in time until the Elderly Man doesn’t show up as usual.
