Seance of the Past
A person spends most of their life mourning the things they have lost, unable to move on. They frequent a silent but helpful medium and embark on a spiritual journey where they linger among their past lives.

In Seance of the Past, grief becomes a hypnotic maze of memories, taking the viewer through a heightened, surreal version of Singapore that has never before been depicted through film. Within the humid, hazy ambience of the city’s atmosphere, everyday city-scapes and liminal spaces are reimagined as transcendent images, engulfed in light. The film captures the feeling of remembering a dream; the way a once-vivid emotion becomes a fading image, slipping through your fingers. An overwhelming sensory experience told through delicate visual and narrative poetry, Seance of the Past is a haunting exploration of loss, memory, and the inability to let go.
It made its world premiere at the Singapore International Film Festival in 2022, and has since made its way around the likes of the CinemAsia Film Festival in the Netherlands, and Queer East in the UK.
