Screams of the Silent
LOGLINE: Two deaf sister chefs cater a Xmas party on a yacht, but things go horribly wrong when a freak accident causes them to fight for their lives at sea.
COMPS: Crawl and Flow (for the at times terrifying silence)
SYNOPSIS: Stepsisters, Lauren and Bonnie are the owners of Silent Suppers Catering. They land a gig catering a Christmas party on their Uncle Roman’s yacht. Unfortunately, Roman has a near heart attack while he’s driving - causing his SUV to lunge like a rocket into the rear of his yacht - ripping the ship away from the tie-down and the dock. Roman ends up in the hospital where Tony informs him that he is suspected in the disappearance of two deaf women. Meanwhile, Lauren and Bonnie are below deck prepping for the Christmas party upstairs. Being deaf, the ladies can’t hear the crash, but they feel enough rattling vibrations that tell them something is wrong with the yacht. Once upstairs the sisters discover that they are alone on the yacht and adrift at sea with a terrible storm heading their way. The sisters can’t communicate their emergency over the radio so they use a pen to tap S-O-S over the radio’s mic. Luckily, Myrtle answers the call and does what she can to help. The sisters use their wits to overcome one terrifying challenge after another: Bonnie’s hands are stung by a jellyfish, making it temporarily impossible for her to sign. Lauren is attacked by a shark that crashes through a window – forcing the sisters to fight the creature to save Lauren’s life. A terrible storm repeatedly batters the yacht until it begins to sink.
Being stranded also gives the sisters an opportunity to reflect on the challenges that led them to cater the party on the yacht. The sisters take everything that’s thrown at them. Finally, they are rescued by helicopter. They survive and shine.
