Scrap Works
Get scrappy with our hero, a traditional master blacksmith busy navigating the challenges of modern life, having forsaken power tools for a higher calling.
While Ryan only works on bespoke objects, that hold special meaning to their owners, he must reconcile the mundane reality of supporting his family and business with upholding convictions of personal morality and purity of art.
His rambunctious personality and warm smile offer a welcome break from the antithetical world of materialism, capitalist greed and vapid drama; even if you’re not into blacksmithing.

I grew up in Ukraine in the 90's and moved to Canada with my family when I was twelve. As a child, I spent a lot of time watching TV and making my own elaborate model aircraft and railroad for play. Not only did the fantastic worlds come to life for me, but I also gained insight into how those worlds were created.
I started volunteering on sets at fifteen but had to curb my participation so as to attend my graduation and then university. The seed, however, had been planted. Following the industry trend, I dedicated time to master digital effects, compositing and computer animation. Back on set, working with light perplexed me as something you can not touch nor see until it touches you. As a grip, I learned to shape and texturize light and later moved into sparking, working my way up to gaffer on several feature films.
The humbling combination of childhood dreams and hands-on work on set has given me a unique perspective and creative freedom that I now enjoy as a cinematographer in my world of narrative storytelling. My understanding of how things work allows me to provide effective input during pre-production and work well with both the crew and director on set when production begins.
I love filmmaking and I feel fulfilled in knowing that my work will continue to inspire, entertain and educate long after I am gone.
