Saving Face
Carmen and Maria are on a field trip and wander from their tour
group and accidentally punch a hole through baby Jesus in a painting of “Madonna & Child.” The Curator is attempting to impress the fierce Madame Fru Fru on a tour of the museum. He tries to show her Madonna & Child and runs off in a panic when he sees that it’s gone. Carmen and Maria attempt to fix the painting but are found by the Curator who is incredibly dismayed. After a chase, the painting is returned to where it
belongs and is revealed to Madame Fru Fru.

Leah Blatteis is a graduating student at Savannah College Art and Design in Savannah, GA majoring in Animation with a concentration in Story and Concept. She began pursuing art seriously since New Years of 2010 when she had a life-changing epiphany. She realized that she can use art to communicate various thoughts, ideas, visions, and stories. This is the greatest power she could have been gifted and she utilizes it with great pride.
I must first thank my mother, Carmen, for giving me the inspiration and sharing her stories with me. I cannot thank my parents enough for supporting me and encouraging me to follow my passions. I dedicate this film to them. I also must thank my incredible crew. This film was a labor of love. We were challenged in ways we never imagined but we never gave up. We took pride in making this film the best it could be. I am proud to work alongside them and proud to call them my friends. I am forever grateful to have had this experience and connect with so many amazing people. My hope is that people will embrace these characters and enjoy a silly story about two silly girls and their silly adventures. Let this be the first of many.
