Savana

SYNOPSIS - "SAVANA" Experimental short film

Forms are at the core of "Savana", focusing on the
circle of a bicycle wheel spinning along streets lit by streetlights at night. We meet a young man,
somewhat gaunt, with a vacant expression, working as a delivery boy for a pizzeria, where the
owner mistreats his employees. The boy's day doesn't end with the last pizza delivery, but
continues with the distribution of small packages of hashish, a side activity he takes up after work
at the pizzeria. This latter activity proves to be more profitable and more personally fulfilling. The
boy’s repetitive life leads him toward a form of self-destruction, which culminates in a murder and
a subsequent flight into the darkness. A race for survival, in the Savana.

The story takes place in
the landscapes of La Spezia, where the urban and rural environments intertwine. Water plays a
primary role as a form, alongside the circle (e.g., bicycle, pizzas, clocks...), which gives rhythm to
the character’s life, accelerating dynamically until it becomes very fast. The overlapping forms
invite the viewer into the cyclical rhythm of the short film, shifting from the spinning bicycle wheel
to the washing machine drum in the character's bathroom, from the freshly tossed pizza to the
delivery mailbox, and to a wall with no way out.

"Savana" is a race against oneself and others, it’s
about decision and unpredictability, it’s black and white.
