Sarawak: A Treasure worth Protecting

Our latest journey unveils one of the planet's most enigmatic corners: Sarawak, a region of Malaysia nestled in the heart of Borneo, surrounded by Vietnam, the Philippines, and the Indonesian archipelago. This unique part of the world faces the existential threats of deforestation and intensive palm oil cultivation, endangering its identity and irreplaceable ecosystems.

Sarawak is a mesmerizing blend of cultures and breathtaking nature. Its capital, Kuching, is a vibrant tapestry of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, mirrored in its extraordinary cuisine. Venturing into its pristine jungles, we meet the Iban tribe, descendants of the famed headhunters, now striving to balance their ancestral traditions with modernity.

The journey continues to the rival Bidayuh tribe, navigating bamboo rafts and learning about their profound bond with nature. Finally, we explore the UNESCO-listed Gunung Mulu National Park, home to one of the world's largest limestone cave systems and indigenous communities preserving age-old ways of life.

Malaysian Borneo astonishes with its unparalleled biodiversity, unique wildlife, and the warmth of its people. This documentary calls for global recognition of Sarawak as a treasure not only for its inhabitants but for all of humanity—a natural and cultural heritage in need of protection.
