The music video, which shares its name with the track from her second original album, "Um Canto Novo," is an audiovisual manifesto that dives deep into the roots of samba to tell a story of resistance, female empowerment, and reconnection with heritage. Conceived and directed by the artist herself during a period of isolation in the pandemic, the piece serves as a "letter to the future," capturing the emotions and reflections of that moment in time.
The narrative follows a spiritual journey inspired by an ancestral dream, guiding Mariane through the streets of Pelourinho, where she grew up, weaving a dialogue between the sacred and the profane. With imagery that celebrates community and Black culture, the video stands as a tribute to the artist’s history and identity.
A special highlight is the participation of Aloísio Menezes and Portella Açúcar, two pivotal figures in Mariane’s life. It was Portela who, years ago, took her—still a child—to her first dance classes at Sesc Senac, steering her away from the streets and introducing her to the transformative power of art. In one of the most moving scenes of the video, three children representing Mariane, Aloísio, and Portela walk past the three artists seated on the steps of the Pagador de Promessas. The image symbolizes a childhood dream, the artistic journey that united them, and the beauty of their reunion in the present—a moment rich in symbolism and gratitude that bridges past, present, and future.
