« Salima » a short film 2023-Morocco
Salima is a deeply intimate story about childhood, illness, and the quiet strength it takes to face the unknown. Through the eyes of a ten-year-old girl diagnosed with cancer, the film explores the overwhelming experience of entering a hospital world for the very first time; a place filled with unfamiliar sounds, routines, and emotions.
For Salima, this new environment becomes both frightening and confusing. Yet, rather than surrendering to fear, she finds refuge in the only place where she still has control: her imagination. From the window of her hospital room, she begins to dream of an imaginary world beyond the sterile walls, transforming anxiety into wonder.
This film is not only about sickness, but about resilience, innocence, and the powerful inner worlds children create in order to survive difficult realities. Salima invites the audience to witness how hope can emerge in the smallest moments ; a gaze, a dream, a window opening onto possibility.
