Experiencing Interruptions?

STORY

For November’s National Novel Writing Month, I reflected on my many journals containing stories I’ve written, which stretch back as far as 1st grade when my mom and I would write stories with my spelling words when I struggled with reading and writing. As I cataloged each journal, I shared an excerpt that inspired a short story that featured a little from each. It was really interesting to see what themes emerged in the specific quotes I selected. The final story was inspired by those quotes, dreams, and some movies from my childhood: Neverending story and The Wizard of Oz. I worked with themes of nostalgia, memory, the passage of time, identity, and childhood. Check out the collection here. It’s not complete but it's pretty comprehensive and chronological.
