SPLIT ENDS
Špela (26), who has undergone chemotherapy due to lymphatic cancer, and her friend Hannah (26) are casually socializing in Špela's college dormitory room. Through their conversation, we become aware of our own fragility and insecurities, even when it comes to the most mundane matters, such as visual appearance.

Špela and I share a deep and intense friendship, which also evolved into a romantic connection. Being of the same age, it profoundly affected me when she received a diagnosis of advanced-stage lymphatic cancer. Her illness prompted a reevaluation of my perspective on life, inspiring me to create a film that explores the complexity of our friendship, framed by the lens of her illness. The beginning of the film was recorded about two weeks before Špela got her diagnosis, for the purposes of a music video that will never be released. She made a remark, that she had split ends and should get a haircut. A few weeks after, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, had to get chemotherapy immediately and started losing all her hair. The whole film is based on the paradoxal contrast between worriying about the bannalities of fitting today's beauty standards and fighting a deadly disease, where looks are the least important thing.
