Experiencing Interruptions?

SORORITY. SPACE. EQUALITY.

Kyzzhibek Batyrkanova is the director of the satellite engineering program. This is the first program that prepares for the launch of a nanosatellite from Kyrgyzstan, and there are only girls in its team. Being engaged in satellite construction, involving other young girls in this project, Kyzzhibek wants to broadcast the idea of feminism.

Previously, Kyzzhibek was in an abusive relationship that included harassment and threats of forced marriage. It is still hard for her to talk about it, but she wants to talk about it in order to broadcast feminism and resist abusive relationships by her own example. Her friends and the space program for the construction of a nanosatellite helped her in a difficult period.

Director Statement

When we, together with screenwriter Aizada Amangeldy, started working on another documentary film, we decided that this film should carry feminist ideas.

Why are we, as authors, so interested in this topic?
First, when we first started thinking about what our next film would be, we realized that it should be about strong girls. At that time, in Kyrgyzstan, cases of domestic violence against women became more frequent, which did not give us peace. In 2020 alone, about 9 thousand facts of domestic violence were registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As people of art, we understand that we have a tool in our hands that can help in bringing information to the masses about women's rights. So we decided to make this movie.

Secondly, we have found for ourselves a non-trivial method of broadcasting the ideas of feminism, namely, by showing the result. That is, to leave the thought, as "every girl can fulfill her dream."

And finally, the heroine of our film was subjected to an obsessive relationship, which she wants to talk about and, by her own example, broadcast the ideas of feminism. We believe that such films with such heroines convey the ideas of equality to the audience as much as possible.
