SILLY LITLLE WISH

Silly Little Wish – a short docu-fiction movie – explores the moment when a man, after many years, finally returns to himself and fulfills a desire that may be small and a bit foolish, but carries immense significance for him. This story speaks about simple yet profound things – perseverance, nostalgia, the relentless passage of time, but also the liberating feeling of finally doing something just for yourself. Perhaps our forgotten dreams are still within reach. Perhaps it’s time to make them happen – no matter how small or silly they may seem.

Director Statement

Sometimes, life takes us far from what we once imagined as children. Buried under obligations, responsibilities, and the expectations of others, we often postpone our own dreams to the
point where we almost forget them. My short film, A Silly Litlle Wish, explores that precise moment when a man, after many years, finally returns to himself and fulfills a desire that may be small and a bit foolish, but carries immense significance for him – to play just one song, just once, on the cliff of a tiny island dear to his heart.
This story drew me in because it speaks about simple yet profound things – perseverance, nostalgia, the relentless passage of time, but also the liberating feeling of finally doing something just for yourself. How small, personal victories can become monumental moments in an individual’s life.
Visually, the film embraces wide, open shots of nature to emphasize both the external and internal journey of the protagonist. The wind, the sea, and the towering cliff become characters of their own – symbols of freedom, but also of time slipping away. The tone of the film balances between melancholy and humor because every major turning point in life carries something both touching and absurdly funny.
I want the audience to walk away from this film feeling inspired to remember their own forgotten dreams. Perhaps some of them are still within reach. Perhaps it’s time to make them happen – no matter how small or silly they may seem.
