SILENCIO

Silencio is a visceral butoh videoperformance that moves through the fragile remnants of memory and the weight of time. The body becomes a landscape of decay, echoing the rustle of fallen leaves and the creak of ancient beams. Every movement articulates the tension between lost illusions and the relentless pressure of existence, as the dancer’s skin, posture, and gaze bear witness to years of desire, disappointment, and yearning.

The performance unfolds like a solitary voyage through a deserted shore, where broken fragments of a once-vivid life drift, and the faint cries of memory haunt the empty spaces. Bare feet and contorted limbs trace the silent narrative of abandoned dreams, ephemeral loves, and the elusive promise of escape. Like skeletal seabirds searching among wreckage, the dancer navigates the delicate intersections of grief, solitude, and fleeting peace.

Through this intimate dialogue with absence and silence, Silencio confronts the audience with the rawness of being — the ache of bodies and souls stretched thin by time — and the tentative hope of a tomorrow that may yet arrive. It is a meditation on decay, longing, and the quiet courage required to set sail once more.

Director Biography - Domiziano Cristopharo

Domiziano Cristopharo is an Italian horror filmmaker and Butoh performer whose work fuses European extremity with Japanese aesthetics. Born in Rome in 1974, he has become a key figure of underground transgressive cinema, moving from body horror and performance art into cyberpunk and occult themes. Recent projects such as Blue Sunset and Yokai explore a hybrid world where Italian cult cinema, Butoh-inspired physicality, and Japanese folklore coexist, creating a distinct cross-cultural language for both film and theatre.
