THE RUNNER

Goo-cheol, an unlucky marathoner who had to end his career after an unexpected accident as a young man cut off his Achilles tendon. Since then, Goo-cheol thought there would be no more running in his life. But one night, at age forty-something, he is once again on the run, to escape the title of “incompetent husband and father,” and “the salesman with the lowest all-time records.” Goo-cheol rushes to catch the last train home. he receives a call from his wife, who yells at him for another unsuccessful, disappointing day before reminding him about the promise he had made to his young daughter, Eun-ji. Eventually, he steals the money of a begging man to keep his promise with his daughter. But his joy is short-lived, when all of a sudden, he finds himself the target of a group of suspicious men. A midnight chase ensues, with Goo-cheol’s life on the line. Will Goo-cheol be able to keep his promise to his daughter, and make it home safely?

I was born in Busan, South Korea. I majored in visual design at university, joined an advertising company, and made over 300 commercial videos as an art director, producer, director, and planner for 13 years. After directing my first short film, 'The Old man, Caregiver and K' in 2010, I established Voyager1 Film Studio 10 years later and am concentrating on film production as a director and director of the production company. Through the story of your average salesman and head of a household, we see how one wrong decision can lead to an unforeseen, catastrophic end. As we laugh in amusement while pitying our hero who could just stop, but instead chooses to charge full throttle towards disaster, we take a moment to reflect back on our own hectic lives to question whether we too, are forgetting what’s really important to us.
