Ruin Song

In a shattered America ruled by the iron grip of self-declared dictator Denis Thomas, democracy has collapsed into dust, and civil war erupts like a long-buried scream. Ruin Song is a poetic, visceral monologue woven from the voices of the broken, the furious, and the unyielding — those who refuse to kneel. As cities burn and hope flickers in the ruins, the people rise not as heroes, but as fire-born survivors clawing back their future from the jaws of tyranny. Through whispers, chants, and roars, the monologue becomes a rallying cry — not just against a tyrant, but against silence, memory, and surrender. It is a war poem for a dying republic, a heartbeat set to the rhythm of revolution, and a final reminder that even in the ashes, freedom still fights to breathe.

Director Statement

Ruin song is a dystopian short film that fuses poetic monologue with striking AI-generated imagery to tell the story of a nation on fire and the voices that refuse to be silenced. Set in a fractured America ruled by a dictator, the film explores memory as a weapon, resistance as survival, and language as a last act of defiance.

This project was created using emerging AI tools to empower cinematic storytelling without a traditional production budget. I believe technology can be a democratizing force — allowing independent filmmakers and writers to create visually ambitious, emotionally charged work with limited resources. Ruin Song stands as a testament to what’s possible when human creativity and machine imagination meet in service of truth.
