230°: Back to the Land of Our Forefathers

From the end of World War II and in the following decade, Italians from Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia emigrated from their homelands. Many refugees settled beyond the new border, others emigrated to Europe and tens of thousands to the rest of the world. More than 600 refugees settled in Fertilia, Sardinia. Almost ninety years later an old boat, “Klizia,” together with its crew commanded by 86-year-old Giulio Marongiu, retraces this journey backwards and this is its story.

Dalla fine della seconda guerra mondiale e nel decennio successivo, istriani, fiumani e dalmati italiani emigrarono dalle loro terre di origine. Molti profughi si stabilirono oltre il nuovo confine, altri emigrarono in Europa e decine di migliaia nel resto del mondo. Oltre 600 profughi trovarono sistemazione a Fertilia in Sardegna. Quasi novant'anni dopo una vecchia barca "Klizia", insieme al suo equipaggio comandato dall'ottantaseienne Giulio Marongiu, ripercorre a ritroso questo viaggio e questa è la sua storia.

Director Biography - Igor Biddau

Born in Sassari ITALY on 21\11\1974 he began his artistic studies at the Art Institute in Advertising Graphics and Photography. He then continued by attending the Sassari Academy of Fine Arts in the Scenography Course, transferring for his final year to the Academy of Florence. It was in Florence that he began his career in the working world, working on commercials distributed on national television. He came to cinema after devoting eight years to teaching in junior high schools and teaching Multimedia Designer for projects funded by the European community. His first work “Mi chiamava Valerio” - Biographical (2014) won the Sport and Movies & TV International Festival as best sports film. With his second feature “Bianco di Babbudoiu” - Comedy (2016) distributed in Italy by Lucky Red and Sky, he wins numerous international awards. This was followed by “Smile Factor” (2017) (Film for TV) and “As if there was no tomorrow”- Blue Comedy (2019) with which he continues the international distribution of his works. He is currently involved in advertising and in particular short advertising films in the comedy genre. The sound new fiction film, “Double Couple” is scheduled to be released in Italian theaters in 2023.

Nato a Sassari ITALIA il 21\11\1974 inizia i suoi studi artistici all'Istituto D'arte in Grafica pubblicitaria e Fotografia. Prosegue poi frequentando l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Sassari nel Corso di Scenografia, trasferendosi per l'ultimo anno all'Accademia di Firenze. E' proprio a Firenze che inizia la sua carriera nel mondo del lavoro, occupandosi di spot pubblicitari distribuiti nelle televisioni nazionali. Arriva al cinema dopo essersi dedicato per otto anni all'insegnamento nelle scuole medie inferiori ed aver tenuto la docenza di Multimedia Designer per progetti finanziati dalla comunità europea. La sua opera prima "Mi chiamava Valerio" - Biografico (2014) vince il Sport e Movies & TV International Festival come miglior film sportivo. Con la sua seconda opera "Bianco di Babbudoiu" - Commedia (2016) distribuita in Italia dalla Lucky Red e da Sky, vince numerosi premi internazionali. Seguono "Smile Factor" (2017) (Film per la TV) e "Come se non ci fosse un domani"- Commedia Blu (2019) con i quali continua la distribuzione internazionale delle sue opere. Attualmente si occupa di pubblicità e in particolare di film pubblicitari brevi di genere comico. Il suono nuovo film di finzione, "Doppia Coppia" è stato programmato nelle sale italiane nel 2023.
