John Lacy has worked steadily as an actor/filmmaker in Hollywood since moving to Los Angeles from Minnesota in 1987. Notable film/tv credits: American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Sons of Anarchy, Just Mercy, Zodiac, Criminal Minds, Bones, Grey's Anatomy, NYPD Blue, House, 9-1-1-, Hell on Wheels, ER, Desperate Housewives, Dogfight. John has also established himself as one of the top acting teachers in Hollywood, nurturing a wide variety of actors, young and old, to grow and thrive in the industry. His two directorial feature films (Custody Road, Rosebud Lane) were mostly cast from within his Lacy Group Acting Studio.
"Rosebud Lane is that "little indie film" that will generate word-of-mouth buzz and open a lot of eyes. Like the title suggests, it's a film about the love of movies, but more than that, it is a film that puts forth strong female characters, in particular lead actress, Tyne Stecklein, who plays "Ginny," a high school drop-out single mother diner waitress who charms and captures the audience with her straight talk and sturdy backbone. She gives one of the best performances you will see in any film this year. Made for a shoestring budget in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, writer-director John Lacy proves a deft hand in directing his actors and telling a mature story that delivers an emotionally powerful ending. Rosebud Lane is a crowd pleaser." ~ Lars Beckerman
Rosebud Lane is primarily about my love of the cinema. It's narrative arc is about a father connecting with his young son through a shared vocabulary of film appreciation. I wrote the film to take place in the small BlueRidge Mountain town of Hendersonville, North Carolina, where my late grandmother lived for most of her life. I dedicated this film to my "Granny," she was a strong, independent woman who raised my mother to follow suit. I have great affection for the Appalachian Region people so it was a dream come true for me when they rolled out the red carpet and welcomed us to shoot in their small town. This film was made with a lot of heart.
