Roofied
Alicia Morelli stepped into the bar, the dim light and soft chatter wrapping around her like a familiar shawl. She smiled at the bartender, her husband Michael's favorite spot. They had planned to meet here after work.As she took a sip, the world blurred. Her head spun, and darkness crept in. The last thing she remembered was a hand gripping her arm. Panic surged through her as she fought to stay awake, but the room tilted, and she succumbed. When Alicia opened her eyes, cold metal surrounded her. The stark reality hit her-she was in a van, bound and trapped. Thoughts of Michael flooded her mind. Would he find her? Would he know she was missing?

Born in 1985 in Los Angeles, at an early age Joshua E. Hones moved to The Netherlands where he lived for 21 years before returning back to the United States of America. Creative outlets have always played a major part in his life. It started with poetry when he was 9, it then turned into storytelling and songwriting until it eventually evolved into writing screenplays during his incarceration between 2022 - 2023. In this time he studied Cinematography, the Foundation of Writing Screenplays and Motion Picture Lighting. From 2023 until present he has been screenwriting, directing, co-directing, main and secondary camera operating, drone operating and assisting as an audio and lighting technician in numerous projects from documentaries to short films and full length feature films. Current projects that have been released or are in production are: Tea Street (Feature film released on Tubi), Common Creed II (Feature film released on Tubi), A Scarf For Joey (Feature film currently in post-production), 3 AM (Feature film in post-production), ROOFIED (Feature film currently in post-production) and "I Have A Voice" (Short Documentary about the Foster Care System).
Human trafficking is a crime that often operates in the shadows, hidden from the public eye, and yet it affects millions of lives across the globe. When I first learned about the realities of human trafficking, I was deeply moved—both by the scale of the tragedy and by the resilience of those who fight against it. Inspired by films like Sound of Freedom, I knew I had to contribute to the movement to expose this crime and give a voice to the countless victims who are silenced.
Through this film, I hope to raise awareness and spark action. It is not just a story; it’s a call to action. The horrors of trafficking demand our collective attention, our empathy, and most importantly, our willingness to stand up and make a difference. By collaborating with organizations and activists already on the frontlines, I want to ensure that the message of this film goes beyond entertainment—becoming a tool for education, advocacy, and real change.
The journey of making this film is not just about telling a story—it’s about shining a light on the dark corners where these crimes thrive and empowering audiences to act. This project is my contribution to a global fight against one of the most grievous injustices of our time. I believe that together, through awareness, advocacy, and collective action, we can make a real difference in the lives of those suffering in silence.
