Romas Ruiner

Romas Ruiner tells the story of former pop star Roma, who, a decade after her breakthrough, struggles to revive her career through various sponsored collaborations. By her side is her best friend and assistant, Benedicte, who may be even more eager than Roma to get her career back on track. The film takes place during a photoshoot in the pop star's apartment, capturing the tension and desperation as they both grapple with the fading glimmers of fame.

Director Biography - Jenny Palén

Jenny Palén (b.1982 in Stockholm, Sweden) www.jennypalen.com


Jenny Palén holds an MFA from the Royal Academy of Stockholm. She is active both as an artist and director. Her work has been presented in several institutional group exhibitions such as Fullersta Gård, National Gallery in Prague and Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her film Spacerabbit is a part of the permanent collection at Uppsala Museum of Art. She was awarded Anna Lisa Thomson Scholarship for art 2016 as well as having exhibited at Uppsala Art Museum. Between 2016-2017 Palén studied acting and has since then engaged in projects blending art, film, and theater, both as a writer, director, and an actor. In recent years her practice has been focused on memories and surreal themes addressed through film, installations and scenography, often with female characters as the main roles. She has, together with Konstab created the set design for Europa efter regnet, which is currently being performed at the main stage at Folkteatern in Gothenburg. She had her first solo at galleri Thomassen Ceremoni över en samlares resa in 2025 and is currently working with new film projects.
