A Club Called Rhonda

" The only rule we follow is: do not judge. Whoever you are, welcome to the Club. "

A Club Called Rhonda is an exploration of the cultural phenomenon that hit LA in 2008 with the opening of the eponymous club. It’s an insight into the free and inclusive spirit of a unique environment, in which the social norms imposed on our daily lives no longer apply.

The message behind the film is as inspirational as aspirational. Rhonda is a lifestyle open to anyone brave enough to be themselves, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. It’s an invitation to break away from the limits pre-established by society and to question how we look at family, roles and social structures.

Ironic, playful and provocative, A Club Called Rhonda is a window onto a universe of uncontaminated self-expression where everyone is welcome.

Director Biography - Greg Ferro

Greg Ferro was born at the end of the 70s. From this specific era comes his passion for rock ’n roll and film.

During his artistic education he studied intensively his two passions: music and cinema. After a successful career in the music field, his love for images and motion pictures took him to the important decision of focusing and dedicating all his time and energy on working behind the camera.

He has become a talented director, photographer and author of an incredible variety of projects across movies, documentaries and TV commercials. His client list includes names such as Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok, P&G, FCA, Quicksilver, Missoni, Vivienne Westwood, Abercrobie&Fitch, Bosch, Nescafè and Vans.

Ferro has specialised in fashion films characterised by high speed filming techniques, merging his passion for design and his strong attraction to slow-motion images. He believes that “the world is a lot more interesting seen from the lens of a camera and if everything moves in slow motion, it becomes absolutely magical”.

He currently lives between Milan, Bangkok and Los Angeles and is preparing for the release of his first feature film Family Girl.

Director Statement

"The best way to explain why I wanted to shoot this film lies in an exchange I had with the Rhonda crew. I asked them why they wanted to create Rhonda, to which they replied that they wanted a place to be themselves. I simply wanted to share their belief and do it justice: just be yourself (and fuck the rest)."
