Mark G. Lakatos is a 23-year-old Hungarian-Chinese filmmaker. Acknowledged for his ability to craft thought-provoking narratives with minimal budgets, he’s become a leader in diversifying independent film production in Hungary. He transitioned from videography to his first short in 2018, an adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s story titled 'The Pedestrian’.
In late 2019, he directed ‘Act!’, an environmental short that headlined the Zöldgömb Film and Video Festival. His third short, ‘House of Babel’ was completed in 2020, which was a science-fiction silent film. He’s best known for creating and directing ’The Siege', Hungary’s first action film, which went on to achieve international acclaim after being completed during the summer of 2020. In early 2021, he directed the multi-award-winning horror film 'Venandi', which was followed by the even more successful ‘The Siege 2’, a feature-length sequel to his 2020 short. He founded Trove Film Collective, an indie foundation that has since been involved in numerous shorts, including Tamás Tarcsi’s ’Torment’, Balázs Bratkó’s ‘Blue Zone’, Benjámin de Bohun’s 'Regression', and Zsolt Körmendy’s ‘A Beautiful Life’. His biggest and most high-profile project to date, ’The Siege: Archangel One' released in April of 2024 and competed at the prestigious Bujtor István Film Festival in Keszthely.
