Peter Renzullo is a film maker and post-production specialist with many years of experience in cinematography, directing, writing and music/sound production.
His career in film started out as a composer for many films, before he ventured into the other departments for himself, taking on the role of film maker and all post production duties for five feature films, two of which were his own screenplays, plus countless music videos and short films.
Director Statement (Peter Renzullo):
My vision for Return To Elenore was essentially to create a classic ghost story involving all the great tropes of those great films from yesteryear, but give it a unique and powerful tone.
The visuals were actually inspired by a piece of music I wrote with my band's vocalist, Ammy Phoenix. When I heard what she created for the vocals and lyrics, set to the slow, drudgy music I produced, I was instantly drawn to write Return To Elenore and use the piece of music as the backdrop for the entire film.
What I ended up with was a story that revolves around the haunting of an abandoned house, where a man returns to confront the entity that dwells within. A tale of murder, revenge and ultimately retribution, this ghost story was created to form a symbiosis with the piece of music that inspired its creation.
Stylistically, Return To Elenore is quite an experimental approach to film structure. I wanted to show moments of the song being performed by the band, Ammify, at certain moments of the film to remind the audience of the driving force behind the story of Return To Elenore.
The cut from the haunted house scenes to the hell fire environment that was created for the band shots, serve to keep the two worlds separated visually, while maintaining the connection between the visuals and music throughout the film.
VFX are a major part of this film. Without giving away what elements were real and what were not, I will just say that what you see on screen is remarkably true to my vision for what I imagined the scene would feel like. From the incredible locations and set design, to the masterful SFX make up created by Justine Renzullo (who actually plays Elenore) and the intense character portrayal by Jay Jay and Steve, this film is one of the most complex productions I have ever attempted. I am so thrilled with the result. Especially given that it took five people to create everything in this film. Three on screen, one doing all the writing, cinematography and post production, and one providing her incredible voice throughout the entire film.
Return To Elenore was, and is, a journey unlike anything I've been on. I hope audiences feel a bit of the magic we all felt making it
