Renata Flores “Pachamama” - Official Music Video
Pachamama is the most sacred deity of the Incas. Mother of hills and men, ruler of harvests and earthquakes, nurturer of life. In her new music video, Renata Flores embodies Pachamama to warn us about the damage beyond repair that humans are inflicting on the planet each day.
Crowned as the Quechua rap queen by none other than The New York Times, Renata Flores is part of a new generation of Peruvian artists making contemporary music in Spanish and Quechua, a 2.600 BC Amerindian language.
Directed by Colombia-born, Spain-based David Carrizales and produced by the global creative & production company Binalogue, the music video takes us to the seaside region and the heart of Lima, Perú, where a majestic, breathtaking Pachamama breaks into the realm of humans. Moving between La Chira beach, the pulsing streets of Callao, the crowded grocery market of Trujillo and a Santería (a religious shop), the artist cries and dances hypnotically as a form of protest. As an undeniable way to make us stop looking the other way and start facing the music.
From a visual standpoint, Carrizales plays with juxtaposition, a creative technique that stands out in Renata Flores’ music, to craft a world of extremes: beauty and strength, aesthetics and raw energy, nature and concrete.
