Este cortometraje experimental invita al espectador a sumergirse en un viaje sensorial y etéreo que desdibuja los límites de la realidad, evocando la naturaleza efímera y misteriosa de los sueños. Edgar Iván Rodríguez Quiroz (Poza Rica, Veracruz, March 10, 1980) is a Film Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Photographer, Actor, and Visual Artist from Poza Rica, known as "El Águila," the name of his production company, founded in 2009.

He began his career as a videographer at the age of 12, working in photographic studios. Later, between 2004 and 2010, he worked in print and television media.

From an early age, he showed an interest in cinema. In 2004, he started filming his first short film, "Reminiscence: Memories of a Fragmented Memory," which premiered in 2009. This short film won the award for Best Short Film in Poza Rica in 2013 and was nominated at the Student World Impact Film Festival in 2022.

In 2016, he worked as an extra in the documentary "Tempest," directed by Tatiana Huezo, which represented Mexico at the 2017 Oscars. In 2017, he participated as an Actor and Stand-in in series for NETFLIX, HBO, Prime Video, and VIX+, including: "Girasol" (Diego Luna), "El Rey" (Vicente Fernández), "Ellas soy yo" (Gloria Trevi), "El Juicio" (Eugenio Derbez), "El Dentista" (Demian Bichir), "Hermanas Guerra," "Colisión," "ESDLC," "Ojitos de Huevo," "Cada Minuto Cuenta" (1985 Earthquake), "Esta Libre," "Requisimos por Cierto," and "Lost Girl," as well as in commercials for Walmart and Red Migrante.

In 2020, he received recognition for Best Characterization for his short film "LA CATRINA." In 2022, he received official selection at LIFTOFF Global Network with "Reminiscence," "CAFE EXPRESSO," and "LA CATRINA."

Edgar Iván Rodríguez Quiroz (Poza Rica, Veracruz, 10 de marzo de 1980) es un Director de Cine, Guionista, Productor, Fotógrafo, Actor y Artista Visual originario de Poza Rica, conocido como "El Águila," el nombre de su productora, fundada en 2009.

Comenzó su carrera como videógrafo a los 12 años, trabajando en estudios fotográficos. Posteriormente, entre 2004 y 2010, trabajó en medios de comunicación impresos y televisivos.

Desde temprana edad mostró interés por el cine. En 2004 comenzó a filmar su primer cortometraje, "Reminiscence: Memories of a Fragmented Memory," que se estrenó en 2009. Este cortometraje ganó el premio a Mejor Cortometraje en Poza Rica en 2013 y fue nominado en el Student World Impact Film Festival en 2022.

En 2016, trabajó como extra en el documental "Tempest," dirigido por Tatiana Huezo, que representó a México en los Oscars 2017. Director Statement

Inspiration: I always wanted to make films. "REMINISCENCE: MEMORIES OF A FRAGMENTED MEMORY" stems from a deep desire to explore the nature of memories and imagination. The idea of capturing a sensory journey through a unique and evocative visual language motivated me to create this work.

Theme and Message: The central theme of "REMINISCENCE" is the fragmentation of memory and the ephemeral nature of dreams. The film aims to convey how memories and experiences are fragmented in our minds, and how these scattered pieces form part of our identity and perception of the world.

Creative Process: The idea developed over several years, during which I experimented with combining live-action and stop-motion animation. This creative approach allowed for a deeper exploration of the visual and dreamlike atmosphere I wanted to achieve. The film uses a phantasmagorical atmosphere to create the illusion of imagination and dreams, reflecting how these elements intertwine in our minds.

Challenges: The production of "REMINISCENCE" faced several significant limitations. I worked with basic technical equipment, using a #Sony DCR-SR42 camera, which imposed restrictions on image quality and flexibility during filming. Additionally, the zero budget was a major challenge, as it prevented the hiring of professionals and the acquisition of additional equipment. My technical knowledge was very basic and self-taught, adding an extra layer of difficulty to the creative process. Despite these economic and technical limitations, the project was an opportunity to elevate my level from amateur to something more professional, turning a dream into reality with great dedication and personal effort.

**Inspiración:** Siempre quise hacer cine. "REMINISCENCE: RECUERDOS DE UNA MEMORIA FRAGMENTADA" nace de un deseo profundo de explorar la naturaleza de los recuerdos y la imaginación. La idea de capturar un viaje sensorial a través de un lenguaje visual único y evocador fue lo que me impulsó a crear esta obra.

**Tema y Mensaje:** El tema central de "REMINISCENCE" es la fragmentación de la memoria y la naturaleza efímera de los sueños. La película busca transmitir cómo los recuerdos y las experiencias quedan fragmentados en nuestra mente, y cómo estas piezas dispersas forman parte de nuestra identidad y percepción del mundo.

**Proceso Creativo:** La idea se desarrolló a lo largo de varios años, durante los cuales experimenté con la combinación de acción real y animación stop-motion. Este enfoque creativo permitió una exploración más profunda de la atmósfera visual y onírica que quería lograr. La película utiliza una atmósfera fantasmagórica para crear la ilusión de imaginación y sueños, reflejando cómo estos elementos se entrelazan en nuestra mente.

**Desafíos:** La producción de "REMINISCENCE" estuvo marcada por varias limitaciones significativas. Trabajé con un equipo técnico limitado, utilizando una cámara #Sony DCR-SR42, lo que impuso restricciones en la calidad de la imagen y la flexibilidad durante la filmación. Además, el presupuesto nulo fue un desafío importante, ya que impidió la contratación de profesionales y la adquisición de equipo adicional. Los conocimientos técnicos eran muy básicos y autodidactas, lo que añadió una capa extra de dificultad al proceso creativo. A pesar de estas limitaciones económicas y técnicas, el proyecto fue una oportunidad para elevar mi nivel de amateur a algo más profesional, transformando un sueño en una realidad con gran dedicación y esfuerzo personal.
