Tom Callahan is a filmmaker who tells critical and imaginative stories in the service of transforming us and our societies. He loves focusing on the power of resistance and collective action, no matter how big or small. He works with a range of social justice, revolutionary and abolitionist organizations in Chicago to support and amplify their work and our collective visions of a new world. It brings him great joy and fulfillment to tell stories in community and build relationships through this work!
This project started in 2017. It has been a quiet companion to my work documenting Chicago’s social movements for liberation and my attempts at connecting with my Irish heritage. The film found its final voice in 2023, as the genocide in Gaza confronted me with questions about the state of our souls.
