André Almeida Rodrigues was born in 1988 in Leça do Balio, Matosinhos, Portugal and he is a director whose productions have been awarded and screened internationally.
In 2016, he finished a Master’s degree in Sound and Image in the School of Arts, Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
In this documentary I am interested in contrasting the gray present with the echoes of happiness from a recent Raf Park past. For this reason, "Release your Emotions", which was the slogan of this amusement park and extreme sports unique in the country.
In 2012, the reality of an economic crisis “planted” in Portugal was at the door of Raf Park. The man “watered” Raf Park with around 7 million euros despite the Troika cutting public spending.
Monte de São Brás saw an uprooting 6 hectares of its green area. Now, half-built, abandoned and vandalized structures are “planted” there.
We don’t know how its future will be like and the time has been erasing its memory. Even I no longer remembered the Raf Park when I discovered, in 2018, the interview that you hear throughout the film because I collaborated as an image reporter with TV Senhora da Hora.
“Release your Emotions” is more of an artistic film than a political film. A film contemplates the grey of a play that was once colored with happiness despite having withered after almost 3 months of activity.
