Anna Carvalho is a multilingual, award-winning actress, director, producer, and writer with more than 60 film and television credits. Many of these projects have garnered awards or nominations and screened at major festivals around the world. She has also served on the juries of some international film festivals and been invited as a guest panelist at events such as Cine Las Américas.
Driven by a lifelong passion for the arts, Anna has trained and worked in Portugal, the United States, England, Italy, and Spain. She earned her degree in Audiovisuals in 2002, followed by a master’s in Performing Arts in 2013. For her master’s thesis she co-wrote, produced, and starred in Death Cabaret, a play that toured Portugal for an entire year.
Beyond her screen work, Anna has produced television shows and commercials, directed multiple stage productions, and written numerous articles for Inside newspaper and the cultural blog D’Magia (theatre, music, and cinema).
Committed to diversity and inclusion, Anna not only lives these values but weaves them into every project she undertakes.
The creation of the psychological thriller "Red Roses Never Die" stems from my profound fascination with the human mind, particularly delving into the enigmatic realm of schizophrenia. Regrettably, my familiarity with this mental illness runs deep due to a close family member's experience.
While the narrative is a work of fiction, it draws inspiration from real-life events that have profoundly shaped my understanding. Some aspects of the story may be challenging to understand.
Through extensive research and conversations with psychologists, I've come to recognize that none of us is immune to witnessing the unraveling of a loved one's mind. It's a moment that alters the course of an entire life.
