Sam Dellert is a filmmaker who works across documentary, experimental and narrative forms. He has collaborated with immigrant communities ("Stateless,” 2016), theater makers ("Wake” 2024), and school students ("The PennGSE/SDP Film Program,” 2019-2024). His independent films have screened at festivals locally (Philadelphia Film Festival) and internationally (Neighborhood Film Festival, Montreal), been broadcast
on public television (WHYY & PSTV Comcast 52) and promoted by major publications including The Atlantic (”Stateless” 2016). He also worked as an assistant editor on the 2022 feature documentary “Hollow Tree” (New Orleans Film Festival, Directed by Kira Akerman, Produced by Monique Walton & Chachi Hauser).
Sam has been awarded grants from Scribe Video Center in Philadelphia and is a two time recipient of the Illuminate the Arts Individual Artist Grant from the Philadelphia Office of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy. He has served as a film, journalism and media educator at institutions such as The University of Pennsylvania, The School District of Philadelphia, WHYY, and Temple University where he is currently pursuing an MFA in Film and Media Arts.
Sam supports a range of creative projects as a director, cameraperson, producer, editor and sound creator. He is originally from New England and is currently based in Philly.
