Rebels Of Thupakulagudem
Shivanna is a dreaded Naxalite who keeps killing police personnel in numerous attacks in the Chattisgarh region. The government comes up with a scheme to weaken the Naxal groups. They offer a police job and monetary reward for each Naxalite who surrenders before the police. SP of Warangal, Rajesh Agarwal decides to cash in on this scheme. He asks a middle man, Lokesh, to bring innocent youth to show them as Naxals, stage a fake surrender and give them jobs while keeping the reward amount to himself. He touts this as a win-win scheme. The middle-man asks a wood smuggler, Rajanna, if he can arrange some men for this scheme.
Rajanna is a popular man in the tribal areas but nobody knows about his origins. He operates by doing good to the common people and thereby gaining their support to carry his mission. He asks his right-hand man Kumar, a guy from the infamous village of Thupakulagudem, to arrange about 100 men for the scheme.
Here is the catch. Kumar loves Mamatha, a fiery young girl from the same village. But her mother doesn’t want Mamatha to marry anyone belonging to Tupakulagudem, which has become a dreaded name. She asks kumar to come up with a government job and settle in some other place. She gives him 6 months time.
Kumar was already in this helpless situation when this scheme came before him. He jumps on to the opportunity without thinking about its consequences. He promises Rajanna that he will arrange 100 men/women.
Kumar, along with his 4 friends convinces the youth of the village for this fake Naxal scheme and takes all the 100 people, including Mamatha to a designated place in the midst of the forest. As instructed by the middle-man, they wear Naxal uniforms and start waiting for the Police team, who should come and take them for surrender.
But things take a turn when Shivanna commits a murderous attack in Chattisgarh, Killing a big number of Police personnel. The Central government orders a huge hunt all over forest areas to catch and kill Naxalites. The search also starts in the area where the 100 villagers, wearing Naxal uniforms are staying. They do not know what’s happening outside their camp.
Kumar and his friends venture out into the forests to search for the police party, leaving Mamatha “in-charge” of the 100 people. Shivanna, the dreaded Naxal, being chased by the Police, sneaks into Telangana area and unknowingly comes towards the 100-camp. Rajanna, the wood smuggler, after finding out about the possible danger, comes in search of the 100 people. All meet in the forest.
This encounter answers many un-answered questions: Will the 100 survive? Who is Rajanna, Who is Shivanna, and what is their connection to the fate of the village?

We went into the heartlands to capture the authentic landscapes, trained and
casted local people to get the authentic looks, avoided artificial lights to capture
the realism and used music which is rooted in the culture, all of it to take you
into our world. Inspired from a real story, we tried to capture the basic emotions
of people from rural India, be it the desire to get government jobs, the
importance of marriage, lack of facilities and the indifference of the authorities
towards them.
But it never gives into despair, just like the rural Indians, who stay hopeful
despite all the odds.
I am confident that you will connect with them and enjoy watching this action
comedy as much as we had filming it.
