Reality shifts

Personal layers of realities in the passage of time. Encounters. Space. As rhythms of a city, and rhythms of different living beings intersect. Embody.
Grass growing on the rock. Now is only now.

This dance film was shot in urban open spaces of Budapest, Hungary. Dancers were sensing into the places, and from the felt qualities of each other, the space, the surrounding, and people around, actions raised. The film is based on this presence. The shared present moment of performer, cinematographer, and space.

Film history and creation information:
The film was shot in 2017, as my first dancefilm project, from zero budget. Later, with spending more and more time with film studies and contemporary (dance)films and choreographic moving images (- term by Réka Szűcs, 2016), I started to feel the need to re-adjust few things. The material had the potential. Finally I made a 2023 version of it.

Director Biography - Bernadett Jobbágy

Budapest based choreographer, performer and filmmaker, founder of the collective Onopordum Performance.

Graduated as Landscape Architect on Corvinus University of Budapest. Later she studied in the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy, and then completed the audio-description study program, connected to the University of Theatre and Film Arts (SZFE). She works as independent artist - choreographer, director and performer -, movement pedagogue and audio-describer, mainly in project-based structure, and in collaborations. In the last ten years, inclusive performing practice and creation has been also part of her work, as being a member of ArtMan Association. Her defining background in movement is contemporary dance and improvisation, Body-Mind Centering® somatic approach, Tai Chi
and QiGong.
After working with moving images in a self-taught way, in 2021 she finished film editing study in Lumiere Film School (Budapest). In 2023 she also graduated as Somatic Movement Educator in The School for Body-Mind Centering®, and she is one of the founder members of SZOME (association for somatic education in Hungary). Currently she is a researcher artist at the Doctoral School of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. Her research field is 'film, as embodied art', somatic potentials of choreographic moving images and multimedia art. In her research, Bernadett focuses not only on the theoretical side of the embodiment paradigm, but also on related artistic practices in filmmaking, and embodiment as individual and collective experience.
