Ray

After serving time in prison for his involvement with a notorious gang led by Primajaya's drug lord, Eric, ex-convict Ray struggles to rebuild his life. His sister, Rishka, who had bailed him out, is burdened by debts and bills.

Ray, isolated and friendless, reflects on the consequences of his past actions, realizing the toll they took on his sister. In this challenging journey, Ray encounters an old acquaintance, Sai, once a victim of his violence, now offering a job opportunity involving narcotics.

Determined to break free from his criminal past, Ray grapples with the choice between a tempting offer and the desire to do right by his sister. In a pivotal moment, he makes a life-altering decision to secure a better future.

Director Statement

In 2016, my vision for a sequel to "Primajaya" took an unexpected turn. Choosing innovation over clichés, I focused on a supporting villain character for a low-budget narrative centered on the main protagonist. However, a pause in production revealed a personal battle – our lead actor, Afiq Julaihi, was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer.

After a year and a half hiatus, we resumed, and the project transformed. Instead of abandoning it, I repurposed the footage into a short film. Shot chronologically, it naturally unraveled the story of an ex-convict, rich with the complexities of decision-making.

"Primajaya: Redemption" is a testament to resilience, redemption, and the triumph of the human spirit. It's a journey that mirrors life's unpredictability, turning setbacks into poignant narratives and showcasing the collaborative spirit of filmmaking. This film is not just a project; it's an ode to second chances and the beauty found in overcoming adversity.
