This travel doc takes you off the beaten path to explore the hidden corners of Jammu and Kashmir under Indian administration, venturing beyond the prevalent narratives of conflict and tension. We dive into the rural and border areas, breaking the stereotype associated with the region's notoriety for violence and geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. The film takes us on a journey into the heart of the tribal and indigenous communities through the mystical Pirpanjal mountain range of the lower Himalayan region. Our expedition leads us through the enchanting beauty of the land, local cultures and traditional music that fills the air. The short documentary is an intimate exploration of the untold stories and enduring beauty that flourish beyond the shadows of conflict.

Director Biography - Syed Jazib Ali

Jazib is a UK-based Documentarian hailing from the lower Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir. Coming from a politically and ecologically fragile zone, he is conscious of human rights abuses and the climate crisis, focusing on the impacts in the global south. Jazib has worked with several international NGOs and United Nations-affiliated organisations on global advocacy projects that help bring inclusive sustainability, societal equality and fair human rights. His award-winning documentaries and advocacy work are globally recognised, amplifying the stories of the underrepresented. His creative projects have been part of COP26, COP27 and global campaigns advocating for inclusivity and representation in the climate change conversation. His work in significant roles with several renowned international organisations has made Jazib a global advocate carving out a space for people from marginalised backgrounds to hold power accountable.

Jazib's short documentary on the Muslim feminist movement of Shaheen Bagh against the Citizen Amendment Act in India won the Best Short Documentary award in last year's Human Screen Festival in Tunisia- a part of the renowned human rights festival KARAMA. This year he attended the festival as a member of the Jury. Jazib is also part of the residential Creative Climate Leadership cohort this year by the art and culture organisation Julie's Bicycle.
