Director Biography - Mari SanGiovanni

Mari SanGiovanni is the Golden Crown Literary award-winning novelist of a popular romcom trilogy: Greetings from Jamaica Wish You Were Queer, Camptown Ladies, and 80% Done with Straight Girls. Her latest book, Liddy-Jean Marketing Queen, was published in June 2024 and features a main character with intellectual disabilities who is wildly underestimated by her family and co-workers. An alumnus of Rhode Island School of Design, an artist, screenplay writer, filmmaker and owner of a film production company, Love Is Love Productions, LLC. Mari’s first film was an award-winning LGBTQ short film, The Sibling Rule, about two women who fake a marriage to keep their two kids in the same school together, but complications arise when the marriage becomes real. The film won Best LGBTQ film at the Sydney World Fest, Best LGBTQ film & Best Women Short from the LA Independent Shorts Awards, and was the winner of Best LGBTQ short film at the Liverpool Indie Awards.
Mari's second film, RETREAT, will be in festivals in January, 2025.
