RECKONER (TV)

RECKONER is an 8-episode limited series that explores the raw realities of teenage drug culture, the fragility of recovery, and the search for identity amidst chaos.

The story begins with two teenage boys spiraling into drug use and gun violence, setting the tone for a community haunted by recklessness. At the heart of the series are three interconnected arcs: Owen King, a teenager hiding his failures while chasing youthful romance; Lilly King, a mother confronting her past trauma and addiction through therapy; and Miles Rockefeller, a 17-year-old patient in rehab wrestling with insomnia, despair, and the lure of relapse.

Through rehab sessions, fractured family flashbacks, and youthful relationships, the series balances gritty realism with philosophical reflection. Each episode builds tension between fleeting joy and irreversible tragedy, culminating in a final reckoning where characters must confront the consequences of secrecy, addiction, and violence.

RECKONER is a character-driven ensemble drama in the vein of EUPHORIA and 13 REASONS WHY, blending urgency with emotional depth to deliver a haunting exploration of youth, resilience, and the cost of survival.

Writer Statement

This teleplay, which is based on my novel of the same name, is deeply meaningful to me, as I was in rehab several years ago, and it left a mark on my life. I met some very interesting people while I was there, and many of them were influences on some of the characters in RECKONER.
