Director Statement

Ratmom is the juxtaposition of something horrible and something funny. While pregnant, I was consumed with thoughts of life and death. I also become a waddling, farcical clown. I found glimpses of how the fear of mortality is joined by deep sexual desire. Buried in childbirth books are the symptoms of sex dreams and a teenage-like hormonal sex drive. I was interested in showing a mother-to-be doing something subversive and subconscious with her supportive partner.
