Rasakrida: Essence of Play

Beyond words — a cinematic embrace of sound, light, and soul.

Cinema is made of light, and this film returns to that essential truth.I placed Krishna away from the manufactured stage—into nature, the original theater, where light moves freely. Every frame in slow motion becomes a meditation on how light dances through time.

Working with executive producer Godfrey Reggio, I moved beyond analytical cinema into pure appreciation. It is like seeing someone truly at rest rather than performing rest—you feel the difference. Rasakrida seeks to be such a resting place, a genuine refuge through direct experience.

The music became the film's voice. When I sought to use a recording by the late Amelia Cuni, I learned she had passed away. Her ethereal voice now guides the visual journey alongside ambient work from Alio Die and Aglaia—three artists creating prayer in sound. Additional music, vocals, and flute by my Indian friend Vasudev Chakerra offer a genuine spirit of devotion intended directly for the audience and the picture.

Shot within sacred landscapes, Rasakrida lets cameras and editing dissolve themselves, revealing the joy of watching light unfold. This is cinema as sanctuary: twenty years of learning to love what emerges when we see with our ears and hear with our eyes, as light and sound dance together as one beauty.

RASAKRIDA is a love story—twenty years of devotion to life and light.

Cinema is made of light, and this film returns to that essential truth. I placed Krishna away from the manufactured stage—into nature, the original theater, where light moves freely. Every frame in slow motion becomes a meditation on how light dances through time.

Working with executive producer Godfrey Reggio, I moved beyond analytical cinema into pure appreciation. It is almost like seeing someone truly at rest rather than performing rest—you feel the difference. Rasakrida wants to be such a resting place, a genuine refuge through direct experience.

The music became the film's voice. When I sought to use a recording by the late Amelia Cuni, I learned she had passed away. Her ethereal voice now guides the visual journey alongside ambient work from Alio Die and Aglaia. What began as permission-seeking became a memorial—three artists sculpting prayer in sound. Additional music, vocals, and flute by my Indian friend Vasudev Chakerra offer a South Asian spirit of devotion intended directly for the audience and the picture. Also breathing through the frames are crystal bowls and healing instruments by Naida, a nomadic woman sound healer born in Italy.

Shot within sacred landscapes, Rasakrida lets cameras and editing dissolve themselves, revealing the joy of watching light unfold. This is cinema as sanctuary: twenty years of learning to love what emerges when we see with our ears and hear with our eyes, as light and sound live together as one transcendental beauty.

Rasakrida will be, for me, a motion picture to be seen essentially before dying, for those who wish to move on peacefully and blissfully.
