Alexander King (she/they/them) is a self-taught, queer, American director, producer and screenwriter, most interested in creating safe space in film for the Black and brown queer community.
She uses filmmaking and video art to tell the stories of real life experiences in efforts to better/properly represent Black and brown queer women. Her goal is to depict true imaginations of queer and trans people of color. Lex using visual and written storytelling to breathe life into in the proper representation of who we are as Black and brown people.
While gaining recognition for her work, in 2022, King has appeared on FOX Soul’s Screening Room for her film ANIMA, a suicide prevention piece. King was personally invited and named a part of GLAAD’s Inaugural Class for New Equity in Media and Entertainment Initiative that aims to increase their access to Hollywood's professional networks, resources, insider knowledge and funding. She produced her latest short, Keep Me In Mind, with Keke Palmer.
King has continued to develop QUEER·ious TV, which features various short films, web series, and other content created by herself as an outlet for proper representation of (queer) stories of color.
When she is not obsessing over new ways to experiment with her own storytelling, she works in the film world assisting directors.
King also works with GLAAD's Communities of Color & Media where she serves as a voice for Black queer women.
Creating films for the healing culture, poetically.
