I never understood why she left me.
I still cared for her.

Six months of static, then I found a new rhythm. A good life. A home.

Until one night...

She walks into the pub, and the past just screams back like bad feedback. One drink, one kiss, and a year of progress goes up in smoke.

I’m walking her out when the headlights hit me. My girl, the kid in the back—my real life.
I love the woman in the car. But seeing the ex... it's like a song I never finished. Now I’m just stuck in the middle, out of tune and nowhere to go.

"I’m going to give you the space you need. Go find whatever it is you're looking for. But don’t take forever—we’re here, and I’ll be here if you need us. Just decide which life you’re actually living."

I'm standing in the same trap I've spent years escaping. I look at her and I see the cycle starting all over again. She’s a drug—a rush that ends in a wreck—and here I am, chasing a high that never actually feeds me.

:I’m just calling to see if you’re okay. It’s quiet here tonight. We miss you... and we’re still here if you need us.

Are you sure you're okay?

We love you."

I watched her walk away until she hit the edge of the streetlights and just... vanished. Back into the static, I guess. Part of me expected it. Some people are like a melody you can’t quite catch—they play for a minute, beautiful and loud, and then the wind just takes them.

I turned back to the house, to the warmth and the kid and the life that actually stays put. There’s a peace in the quiet now.
