Purani Parichit

Nina is a working woman living alone in the suburbs of Mumbai. Her life is harmoniously set to the tune of the metropolitan city and oscillates between office and home. One day, her routine is delicately broken when an old forgotten friend decides to visit her. Ayesha brings nostalgia, uncomfortable questions, trivial arguments and missed confrontations. Nina begins to escape into the ideas in her head while Ayesha spins a charming yarn of her own

Director Biography - Sumel Brar, Rachana Anshumali

Sumel got his training in film direction from Raindance Film School, London. A trained Visual effects artist from Escape Studios, London.
Before venturing into films, Sumel worked extensively in the media and advertising industry as a Creative Producer and worked with brands like Colgate, OLX, Godrej, Danone etc. He also directed a number of short films on social issues. Currently he is working on adapting one of Dostoevsky's story into a Punjabi film.

Rachana worked as a copywriter for some of the top advertising agencies of India. She currently works as a freelance writer.

Director Statement

Human beings love talking, short talks, long conversations, dinnertime stories, bonfire talks, chatting, texting. People are always talking. What does it all add upto? The sum-total of all the casual conversations, the banter… how does it weigh in on the grander picture of the universe where earth is nothing but a little blue dot and the collective human experience… what would that be?

What is the spacetime perspective of my office gossip?
Let’s place two people in a familiar setting and investigate the impact of a casual conversation on the nature of space time.
