Psychoco
Sexual assault is still a huge problem in our society. If someone dares to disagree, we dare to call them a fool.
Psychoco tells us a story about a young girl Eleonora, who starts falling in love with Oliver - confident and admired by everyone. She has a dream to sing on stage with her instrument Ukulele, but fear gets the better of her. The film shows us not only the real world but also Eleonora's inner world, further emphasizing her emotions and what she is going through throughout the film. It seems that everything is going well for Eleonora and Oliver, but the story quickly takes a dark turn. She gets sexually assaulted by him when she desperately tries to stop him, her inner world shows the conflict between her feelings for him and the pain while she is being restrained by thorns that make her not being able to move which mirrors the real events happening simultaneously. The film delves deep into the journey towards healing and understanding that it’s not the victims' fault and we need to stop this wrong mentality. The only way for us to make a difference is to tell our story and speak up so that it can reach someone who needs to hear it.

My name is Agnė Daniūnaitė from Lithuania, and I'm nineteen years old. For many people of my age, the choice of future profession is a stressful problem. However, not for me. I’m going to dedicate all my life and talents to filmmaking. It didn‘t happen overnight. Since my early childhood I was dreaming to be part of the world of cinema. When I was fourteen years old I got into Skalvia’s film academy located in Lithuania and graduated when I was sixteen, won first place in a film festival ‘’Užmesk akį’’. Worked with professionals on my graduation film ‘’Tobula’’ when I was only sixteen years old. I was the director and the producer. Since then, I’ve developed even more experience and connections in the film industry.
Psychoco is my new film directed and produced by me. Started writing the script when I was seventeen and started shooting the film when I was eighteen. Right now I'm studying Cinema at RUFA and my biggest dream is for my films to reach the world.
No matter how much we want the people who hurt us deeply to disappear, often in life we cannot run away from them, as they continue to revolve around us. We have to learn how not to let our fear control us and to face our trauma, rather than fall victim to it. At first, I thought that Oliver should die because that's what we want - the evil to be defeated and our antagonist to bear the consequences for their actions. However, after thinking about it more thoroughly, and reflecting on my life experiences, I figured that that is not the idealistic world we live in. Unfortunately, people like Oliver will continue to exist around us for as long as humanity lives, so we need to accept the reality and not let them control our minds anymore. Elenora’s story shows us that it’s important to understand that sometimes what happens is not your fault and that it's important to find the strength within yourself to not let those events and people affect your life, so you can live it to the fullest.
