Director Statement

Samaresh Basu was regarded as one of the doyens of contemporary Bengali literature because of his distinctive style of writing. I had always wanted to do films based on literature and this film is a contemporary take on Basu’s novel published in 1967. The hard hitting storyline remains contemporary even at this age and that was the reason to take it up as a challenge to do it on celluloid. Like the novel, which is devoid of any classicism, I tried to make the film in true Independent style.
