Director Biography - Alexandra Savu

My name is Alexandra Savu, I am a Romanian student currently studying Film and Media Arts at Southern Methodist University. I have been creating visual contents in all forms and shapes and for different reasons ever since I discovered my passion for cinematography.
I have graduated from a Computer Science high-school in Bucharest, where I was the school's video editor for the theatre team. I used to act in theatre plays during those 4 years for Bucharest Theatre of Comedy and I have been writing scripts and short stories for different organizations.
My biggest passion has always been filmmaking and I have made documentaries, short narratives and experimental movies to participate in several competitions. Also, I was a videographer for EYP in Vienna, a political conference, and a production assistant for a feature movie made in my country. I love working in the camera department for many student projects and short films.
Currently I am working as a video editor for COX School of Business and for the "Stang Series" mental health project at SMU and I am very eager to keep on making films!

Director Statement

I made this feminist, independent short film almost entirely by myself because I wanted to portray a very strong story based on the cultural changes I have felt since coming to America. It is my own approach towards change, but the plot can be interpreted differently and every single viewer can identify in a unique way with the characters.
