Princess Ariel

沙灘、黃色雨衣、捲毛小狗和被海水淋濕的女孩。這既是一次求助，也是一次對於成長領地的維護。染色劑是偷窺的保護色，長出的紅疹是青春秘密的排異，柔軟的恐嚇成為染上的羈絆，希望被毛線團層層包裹的生命不要抵達人間 .... 又是一天游泳的好日子，洶湧的疼痛逐漸褪色，潮濕的痕跡停留在美人魚的吟唱聲裡。

Summer beach, yellow raincoat, curly-haired puppy and girls drenched by the sea. It is a cry for help and also a defense from teenage territory. Dyed hair is a protection for prying eyes. Rash that grows is a rejection of secrets. Soft intimidation becomes a long last bond and hope is wrapped under layers of woolen yarn that will not come to light ... Another good day for swimming. The raging pain fades and the dampness lingers in Ariel's chant.

Director Biography - Zhiquan Liu, Xinyuan He

畢業於上海戲劇學院，曾提名上海國際電影節金爵獎最佳真人短片、台北電影節最佳短片，入圍聖塞巴斯蒂安國際電影節、聖丹斯電影節（亞洲）、塔林黑夜、奧伯豪森、富川奇幻、NETPAC、北影節、FIRST、及平遙影展。創投項目發佈於新加坡國際電影節、烏迪內遠東電影節 Focus Asia 與金雞創投大會。英國 VanityTeen 雜誌中國版 New Talent 人物，中國電影導演協會青蔥計劃、Busan Platform、SIFF NEXT、FIRST 訓練營及類型片實驗室入選青年影人，代表作 《熱帶少年的狀況》《游泳的好日子》《河童》《恐龍蛋事件》 等。

Graduated from the Shanghai Theatre Academy, has been nominated for the Best Short Film at the Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Awards main competetion and Best Short Film at the Taipei Film Festival. His short film have been selected for prestigious festivals including the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival: Asia, Tallinn Black Nights, Oberhausen, Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival, NETPAC, Beijing and Pingyao International Film Festival.

His feature projects have been pitched at the Singapore International Film Festival, Udine Far East Film Festival Focus Asia and the China Golden Rooster Film Project Market. Recognized as New Talent by the Chinese edition of VanityTeen magazine. He have been selected for the China Film Directors’ Guild Qingchun Program, Busan Platform, FIRST Training Camp, and Fantastic Lab. Representative film include “Tropical Conditions”、“And I Talk Like A River”、“ Princess Ariel” and “Dinosaur Boy” .

Director Statement

透過香港地域性的家庭極端問題，試圖刻畫少女複雜的心理壓力：抵觸與無奈，膽怯與執著，令人傷感而又心酸。儘管如此，並不希望刻意去放大和描寫悲傷，而是以平實樸素的手法，把少女內心深處的苦楚，以近乎荒誕的行為加以表達，視作一次成長的求助和對成長領地的守護。

Attempting to depict the complex psychological pressure of a teenage girl through an uncommon extreme family issue: resistance and helplessness, timidity and persistence, which is both heartbreaking and heartbreaking. However, we do not want to deliberately magnify and depict sadness, but rather use a plain and simple approach to express the deep suffering of the girl's heart through almost absurd behavior, which can be seen as a help for growth and a protection of the growing territory.
