Primordial Kankurwa
Indigenous guardians of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta must defend their land and cosmovision from extractivism, preserving a way of life where traditional ceremonial houses symbolize the unbroken cycles linking humanity with the universe.
Kankurwa Primordial is a documentary blending public footage from NASA with recordings from our sacred lands in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Through the voices of the Kogi, Arhuaco, Wiwa, and Kankuamo peoples, the film reveals our ancestral wisdom, viewing the universe as a cyclical flow of life and energy. It explores our deep connection with nature, symbolized by our circular ceremonial houses, or Kankurwas, and our role as guardians of this delicate balance.
This film is a call to action for a deeper understanding and harmony between indigenous knowledge and contemporary institutions. By embracing our philosophy of cyclical renewal, we can work together to protect our shared home—Mother Earth.
