Craig Tovey has been consistently creating content since 2012. His documentary Our Mobile Lives was actually his Communication Master's thesis project but ended up launching his film-making career. After moving to Los Angeles in 2013 he dove into comedy by making a home at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater, studying improv and making short films and sketches with his newfound friends and community. Most recently he directed Cabin Stories (2020) which was written by a UCb sketch comedy team and screened at several film festivals. He currently pays the bills directing commercials and has been directing celebrity and car content for Omaze for the past 5 years.
Prime of Your Life is a special and personal short film made with one of my favorite actors (and dear friend) Tara Erickson. This project arose from Tara's real-life experience and we both thought it was perfect to explore in a short. Tara's full range of acting abilities are on display and it's amazing to see her handle pain, sadness, and anger and seamlessly shift into a full-blown comedic meltdown. This short has several gears and was challenging to make, but I'm very proud of the result.
Artistic Statement by Tara Erickson : You’re the one who chooses to accept all the rejection and focus on the hard work. You choose to have less time for those around you because you’ve buckled into the sacrifice you knew you’d have to make. You choose your dream because if you didn’t it would break you.
