John Ogunmuyiwa is an award winning Nigerian-born London-bred filmmaker who works in both documentary and fiction. His work draws upon a constant questioning of what it means to be normal. Using daily observations as a base, he tends to bring a tinge of surrealism into his work. All with the aim of telling untold stories from a different perspective.
John's second short MANDEM premiered at the 2020 London Film Festival, screened at numerous festivals including Aesthetica Film Festival and American Black Film Festival and was nominated for a 2020 BIFA.
His first short WILSON was part of Channel 4's RANDOM ACTS and screened at numerous festivals worldwide including London Short Film Festival, BFI Future Film Festival, Miami Short Film Festival and 2018 Lift-Off Global Network.
Currently has a feature in development with Fox Searchlight and is represented by Sarah Williams at Independent Talent. PRECIOUS HAIR & BEAUTY is his third short film funded by BBC Films, BFI Network and Loop Fund.
