Power Chord

Power Chord is a film produced by Hanyu Studio in 2018. It is a story of a college punk Gao Wu who cannot play guitar. After a heartbreaking breakup with his girlfriend Zhou Yi, he decides to start a punk band with his friends Wang Tianyu and Huang Min to rebel against their boring ordinary life. And Gao Wu try to play on a music festival to make punk popular again just in one summer.

My name is Hanyu Hu, a filmmaker and digital artist who located in Bloomington IN. I started making films 3 years ago, and persistently trying new styles. Now I had already self-produced 5 shorts, screening in 2 galleries, 2 film festivals and received 1 jury winner award.

Director Statement

Power Chord is a story based on my experience during Freshman and Sophomore year. A heartbreaking experience that made me question the average ordinary life I used to be comfortable with. I sum up my story as a young man’s little rebellion in a summer.
