Possession

There are many characters in all of us that we pack and hide, different to the people around us, different to ourselves when we are alone, and we actually want to be. The movie "Possession" brings this long-term war between our inner characters to a different dimension and brings to light this situation that everyone goes through.

Director Biography - Yusuf Ziya Esencan

He was born on May 18, 1993 in Adana. His passion for cinema shaped his life from a young age and he gave his education in this direction and studied at Moda Mimar Sinan Fine Arts High School. He graduated from high school in 2011 as the winner of the Cinema-TV department. He started his career with the university and took part in the production of various TV series, short films and TV programs in the directing and camera teams. He graduated from Istanbul Commerce University, Visual Communication Design Department in 2016. His previous short films, "Possession" and "Umbra," which he both directed and wrote, were selected for many festivals, and "Possession" won the Best Short Thriller award at the Kosice International Film Festival. He is currently shooting short films, commercials, social media videos, and concept photos.

Director Statement

It is a great pleasure for me and my team to finish our film and send it to festivals at the end of 1.5 years of pre-production, shooting and post production. Our team consists of both professionals and students. This movie is the first step for me to get out of a student and become a professional director. The biggest reason for me to write and shoot this film was to move away from the realism of the world we live in, and to bring to light our psychological reality in which we all contradict ourselves.
