Private Project

Piraña

One Liner: This documentary aims on bringing in light the journey of waste, where it comes from and where exactly it goes once it’s tossed in the bin, and in short who is responsible for all of this.
Waste. What an interesting concept. Out of all the activities that we as humans participate in, generating waste might be the strangest of them all. However, we are also pretty smart and have implemented easy ways to get rid of the waste and yet every piece of plastic ever created still exists in some form or the other. It lives within us, by us and all around us.
Waste has an insidious, long-term impact on our environment, our wildlife and ultimately our own health. But how do we avoid it? In an age of excess consumption and a mindset of ‘convenience at all cost’, is it possible to truly be waste free?
Pirana is a contemplation of this reality explored through the five senses.

Director Biography - Nainisha Dedhia

Nainisha Dedhia,
I am a 20 year undergrad film student at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
“Why did I choose film making?” Well, the answer isn’t a simple one, but the decision to study film making was definitely an easy one, it felt just right. However, born into a family of Engineers, Doctors and Businessmen, it was highly unnatural for my family that I chose film making as a career, but seeing my interest and developing passion in cinematography, writing and films, they gave me the final nod to pursue something that I loved.
I believe filmmaking is not only about skill but a great combination of creativity, skill and imagination. I love to read and research quite extensively, and the knowledge I have gained from these efforts heightens my interests and my desire for creating something that is by all means a true reflection of what I believe in.
Furthermore, talking about the kind of films I plan to make, as of now my inclination is more towards per say Experimental Films, which I guess is a part of everyone life as a film student. Unusual narratives and indirect visuals have always been something I have been draw towards.
